Debbie Heimowitz, Creator/Director/Producer, Adina’s Deck
Alison worked in anti-violence education and invited my partner and me to present at the Girl Scouts Relational Aggression Conference. She was more than welcoming, extremely organized and very professional. Her work in cyber bullying is very important and her help with our company Adina’s Deck is appreciated to this day. I would highly recommend her to anyone in this field or any other areas she pursues. She will be a great addition to your team as she was to ours!
Michelle Menillo, Educational Writer, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
Alison was recently a guest blogger for NetSmartz Workshop. We were all extremely impressed with her expertise and professionalism. Alison is a pleasure to work with, an excellent communicator, and her final product was great.
Andrea Shore, Freelancer/Consultant
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Alison on numerous projects. In particular, she was an amazing partner when we collaborated on a freelance project to write a grant proposal for a health care clinic to fund their teen pregnancy prevention efforts. During this project, as she does with all of her work, she developed innovative programmatic ideas for the organization; had an excellent vision of how to pull the proposal components into a tight, well-written document; and was extremely organized and detail oriented. She is a wonderful partner, very bright and very dedicated to her work. I highly recommend her for any organizations looking for technical assistance or grant writing for any program focused on youth.
Andrew Billmann, Partner, Firepower Design Co.
As a design and advertising firm now in its 10th year, we’ve worked with hundreds of people in all walks of business. 95% of the time, those people fall into two categories: Big-picture thinke
rs or smaller-picture do-ers. Alison is both. And that’s pretty rare. There are a lot of big-picture folks out there that don’t know how to execute. Conversely, there are a lot of people who can get things done, but don’t see the real reasons for their actions. Alison is the rare exception who totally gets it. In our work with her, she is extremely organized and thorough, always ready with either a birds-eye view or a detailed explanation. Easy to talk to, her sense of humor makes projects a pleasure. She delegates as appropriate, takes the reins when she needs to, and offers an exceptional level of professionalism. We would be honored to continue to work with her, and hope to continue our relationship.
Paul Reynolds, Co-Founder, President – Creative Strategy, FableVision
I remember my first conversation with Alison – full of determination, passion, smarts, and zeal to move the meter in substantive ways. I marked right then and there as a rising superstar on the educational media/technology landscape. Alison is a big thinker wearing “sensible shoes” – inviting our team at FableVision the room to think out-of-the-box – but gently balancing the reality of time line and budget in a way that kept everyone energized and pushing for best-in-class results. I will never forget the Intergalactic Bracelet Race board game we did together – where her creative strategic thinking and project management provided the guidance for our team to create this award-winning learning experience to empower young girls. I look forward to watching Alison’s career – and how she moves the world to a better place with her talent and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Lory Woods, Instructional Designer / Developer, Independent Consultant
Alison contracted with me to develop a multimedia instructional program on relational aggression (bullying) for the Girl Scouts. Alison functioned as the project leader and was delightful to work with. She was energetic, quickly responsive to questions and had terrific ideas. My father became severely ill early in the contract period and died several weeks later. During this time, I was not able to attend to our project and had to delegate most of my responsibilities to an associate. Alison was very compassionate and professional during this time. Once I was able to return to work, her enthusiasm helped lift my spirits and got me focused back on the project. During my experience working with Alison, she was an effective project leader and was a lot of fun to work with. I was especially impressed with how she was able to effectively manage the delicate balance between compassion for my personal situation and the needs of the project. I wish Alison well and I am confident that she will be an asset to any organization that employs her.
Lisa Johnson, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida
Alison is a talented professional whose attention to detail and commitment to a job well done consistently exceed my expectations. I worked with Alison in her role at Girl Scouts of the USA. She was an incredible resource, well-versed in the areas of bullying and juvenile delinquency and was instrumental in providing me with information that ultimately helped me secure funding for our local Girl Scout Council. Alison provided ongoing support, thoughtful discussion and spirited debate during our many interactions and often challenged me to think in new ways and try different approaches to analyzing and solving problems. She is a wonderful colleague.
Dr. Harriet S. Mosatche, President, The Mosatche Group
Alison Trachtman Hill was such an extraordinary project manager at Girl Scouts of the USA that, when I started my own consulting business, I asked her to work with me. She not only grasps the “big picture” quickly, but is adept at implementing complex projects effectively. Her expertise and enthusiasm were well-recognized by Girl Scout councils across the country. She is superb at cultivating and maintaining collaborations with other organizations, which stems from her genuine interest in making a difference in people’s lives.
Jessica H. Lawrence, CEO, Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council
Over the past four years, it has been a pleasure to work with Alison as she served as the Project Manager for implementation of significant federal grants to support anti-violence education and violence prevention. Alison worked closely with our council to provide invaluable guidance, resources and support in implementing the grant funds that our council had been awarded. Alison is impressive in her consistent ability to keep her finger on the pulse of what is happening within anti-violence field. She goes above and beyond simply making sure that a grant is implemented following the guidelines- she always strives to raise the bar of program quality and encourage councils to develop best practices that can have positive impact across the Girl Scout Movement. Alison has outstanding skills in multiple areas, including program and curriculum development, project management, research, and outcomes measurement. I look forward to continuing to work on with Alison on a wide-variety of projects.
Christine Donadio, New Business Development, 360KID
I had the privilege to work with Alison on two groundbreaking products for the GSUSA Healthy Relationship series. I cannot
recommend her highly enough. Alison is organized, thorough, and oh-so-willing to go the extra mile to ensure that her final product exceeds expectations. For Healthy Relationships, she not only got a great product produced; she also fought hard (and “upstream”) to make sure that it was distributed in a way that would genuinely reach the target audience. As a vendor, I appreciate her respect for our team’s budgetary and timeline restraints; as a producer, I appreciate her vision, thoroughness and attention-to-detail; and as a person, I appreciate her positive outlook and pleasant nature. I was pleased to have this experience, and look forward to the opportunity to work with Alison again in the near future.
Brandon Sheaffer, Director of Media Solutions, WITF, Inc.
I worked with Alison on the Sister to Sister project. She was not only a representative of our client, the Girl Scouts of the USA, but the manager of the entire interactive projec
t. She had a great hands-on approach but didn’t micromanage and allowed my crew to do what they do best. She was always available for any questions we had and always clear in what she wanted. Alison was extremely easy to work with. She handled any difficulties or problems that arose with the absolute, utmost composure. I would cherish any opportunity to work with Alison on any project in the future.
Phyllis Kaplan, Director of Sales, 360KID
Alison hired 360KID for work she was doing as a Project Manager at Girl Scouts of the USA. She always followed through when we
needed information, and had an uncanny attention to detail when it came to setting up the contract, paying invoices, and generally moving the work forward. I loved working with Alison and believe the feeling was mutual, as she continues to look for ways to work with 360KID on future projects.
Monica Shah, Director, Leadership Program Development, Girl Scouts of the USA
Alison, whom I had the pleasure of working with for 4 years at GSUSA, is passionate, talented, driven, and very bright – all the hallmarks needed for success in any workplace. I tapped into Alison’s expertise in girl development and anti-violence to help build content for a middle school curriculum for Girl Scouts. The result was a tremendously fun, valuable and innovative book (published September 2008) that girls all over the country are using as a guide to creating peaceful relationships. In addition to her content skill, because Alison is so conscientious and thoughtful about her work, I was able to count on her following through during a period of incredibly tight deadlines amidst an office climate of tumultuous change.
LynnAnn Siegel, Contractor, LBS Consulting
Working with Alison on Sister-2-Sister was a pleasure. She showed an incredible understanding of and connection to the target audience which made design and programming much easier. As project manager she provided information needed in a timely fashion and showed great flexibility as situations required.
Michelle Tompkins, External Communications Consultant, Girl Scouts of the USA
Alison Hill is an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful member of the Girl Scout team. She took to media message training quickly and was able to help get out the message about the importance of anti-violence education. She is quick to respond, yet still offers thoughtful answers to difficult questions.
Heidi Sheppard, MBA, Girl Scout Volunteer Maryland
Alison assisted me with a program for Girls on Relational Aggression. I contacted her via phone and we chatted about the program and the issue for nearly an hour and during that time she inspired me to pursue implementing the program with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. She was extremely helpful and supportive and knowledgeable about RA and its real effects on girls. Alison is a great Project Manager, spending a lot of time talking with me, sending me relevant program materials by mail and email, and following up with me on my initiative. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
Carole Aksak, Critical Issues Coordinator, Girl Scouts of Nassau County
Alison’s work with the Project Anti Violence Education (PAVE) grant brought us together. When Girl Scouts of Nassau County began its work on relational aggression, we we
re connected with the work Alison was doing as the Project Manager on Pave the Way, an initiative of Girl Scouts of the USA. I found Alison eager to share her knowledge and responsive to our inquiries. She was involved in the creation of girl programming addressing the issue of healthy relationships and those program materials are available for use across the country by Girl Scout troops everywhere.
Leela Kingman, Membership Delivery Associate, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey
Alison was an extraordinary lead trainer at GSUSA’s Relational Aggression Conference (January 2008). She was, and continues to be, a knowledgeable and inspiring teacher and colleague.
Rachel Bohn, Operations Director, Firepower Design Co.
I worked very closely with Alison on some projects in the Healthy Relationship Series with Girl Scouts of the USA. I can honestly say that Alison was a pleasure to work with! From the start, s
he was extremely organized, and always very timely in responding to our questions. It was also very clear that Alison was passionate about her work at Girl Scouts, and had an extremely broad understanding of the initiative she was in charge of. Beyond that, when faced with an obstacle, she knew exactly what to do to get the job done. Alison has a great sense of humor, and her level of professionalism is unmatched. In the end, the marketing pieces we produced for her were so well received that she was a big advocate for Firepower Design, and we are very appreciative of that. I sincerely hope our paths cross again in the future.
Leigh Brown, Girl Scout Volunteer Wisconsin
I was very fortunate to meet Alison last year. However I have known of her work for some time. In 2007 we wanted to put an anti-bully conference together in Wisconsin and I contacted the Girl Scouts to see if there was any information that I could use in our program. I immediately was sent to Alison. She was extremely helpful and followed up with me several times to check on our project. In 2008 she coordinated a conference of Girl Scout leaders and staff to learn more about Relational Aggression. She was very knowledgeable and helpful to me with all of her information. Her heart is always in her projects and she is an amazing asset to any company. I truly believe that she is making a difference in the world and I look to her as a great role model for girls.
Janet Lombardi, Senior Writer/Editor, Girl Scouts of the USA
As Senior Writer/Editor at Girl Scouts of the USA, I have worked closely with Alison on a number of projects including the Healthy Relationships series, College 101, and other anti-violence curriculum. Alison is a self-starter who takes a project by the horns and gets things done. She is smart, thorough, insightful, and an excellent team player. We’ve developed a lot of content together and it has always been stimulating and energizing to work with her. Alison is passionate about what she does and always goes the extra mile to produce high-quality results.
Laura Birnbaum, Program Coordinator, Middle School and High School, Girl Scouts of the USA
Alison and I worked together on the Girl Scout Cadette journey, “aMaze: The Twists and Turns of Gett
ing Along,” a curriculum that guides girls in middle school to forge healthy relationships. Alison contributed her expertise in relational aggression to elevate the relevance of the journey. Alison is a sharp and progressive project manager who understands what girls need and want in today’s world.
Ron Woo, Professor, Bank Street College
Alison was recently a guest speaker in my graduate Law for School Leaders class for aspiring principals at Bank Street College. We were all deeply impressed with her expertise regarding cyber bullying and digital harassment. After Alison deftly and clearly outlined the treacherous landscape facing future school leaders, she provided them with sensible strategies for preventing and dealing with these issues when they are encountered. She also provided them with resources for more in-depth information. Alison’s presentation should be an absolute must for any school leader preparation program.
Mary Ann Owens, Director, Membership Services, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri
I would like to highly recommend Alison Trachtman Hill as a consultant and/or curriculum writer. I have worked with Alison for over 6 years in various capacities. She has always proven to be efficient, knowledgeable and most of all, helpful in every way. She is an expert in the field of women and girl issues and is proficient in all aspects of violence prevention and intervention. Alison has served as my mentor and guiding light in establishing an anti-violence program in our council. She has also written curriculum for both our PAVE anti-violence program and our Character Trails program. Everything she has created has been enthusiastically received by our collaborators and facilitators. Her knowledge and area of expertise are second to none. Whatever your need, I can assure you Alison can fulfill that need for you, and in the best way possible!!!!
Dr. Jenny Walker, President, Cyberbullying Consulting Ltd. www.cyberbullyingnews.com
Alison Trachtman Hill is a leading American expert on issues affecting “tween” and teen girls. She recently gave me very wise peer feedback in working through a strategy to resolve a complex situation with a group of teen girls. Having access to another professional to speak to about ideas, resources, guidance, etc. on a confidential basis is extremely valuable in a field where critical relationships are often on the line.
I have also had the privilege of observing her in an online think tank of top national minds on digital safety issues for youth. Among these brightest stars, Alison always shines out with her consistent, spot-on, sage advice. When she steps into the dialogue of the nation’s experts, she never repeats the obvious, but contributes unique value, which undoubtedly has grown out of a deep, ongoing continuum of the many girls she has helped in the past, is touching now, and will reach in the future. With many successes already under her belt, Alison undoubtedly has more to come and she is certainly one to watch!
Phyllis Kurland, College Cultural Program, Nassau Community College
Cavin P. Leeman, President, Stephen & May Cavin Leeman Foundation
Alison gave an excellent talk on “Kids and Communications Technology” at the annual meeting of our grantees, all of whom provide direct services to needy children and youths in New York City. After asking the group in advance about their experience and interests, she developed a talk tailored to their needs. The talk was extremely informative, very well presented, and well received by those who attended.
Amy Fiore, Managing Director, TADA! Youth Theater
Alison brought her extraordinary knowledge and point of view to a post-show discussion at TADA! Youth Theater in conjunction with our production of the original family musical Rabbit Sense, which deals with themes of bullying. Where most specialists on the topic and media outlets seem keen on sensationalizing for their own gain, Alison gave us a practical and optimistic point of view, which gave our audience of parents and kids a better place to start from in dealing with similar issues. She was both thoughtful and very interesting.
Laura Laub, VP – Middle School PTSA, Sleepy Hollow Middle School
Alison Trachtman Hill presented at our PTSA meeting about digital abuse (cyber-bullying) and online reputation management (digital footprint). She spoke about working as a school community to become more respectful, responsible and inclusive, and the ways in which violence perpetrated online often has offline consequences. Her ability to speak candidly with us while providing us with the tools, tips and ideas we as parents need to help our children was greatly valued and appreciated. She is an excellent presenter who is knowledgeable about the subject matter, the complex lives of youth and the dynamics among parents and children. I highly recommend her for your PTSA meetings and your school community as a whole.
Saul Spangenberg, Executive Director, Hillels of Westchester
Alison Trachtman Hill began her work with Hillels of Westchester when she brought us a grant opportunity she felt would fit with our multi-campus mission. We hired her to write the grant and help us design an innovative young women’s leadership program. After accompanying me to meet with multiple potential foundations, the grant she wrote was successfully funded at the full dollar amount, which also happened to be the largest grant made by that foundation during their funding cycle. Alison will play a significant role helping us implement the grant, including leading workshops for participants in the leadership program. We at Hillels of Westchester are thrilled with her work and look forward to many more opportunities to work together.
